Prelates from the Federation of Asian Bishops Conference, Latin American Bishops Council, and Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar have gathered to identify common pastoral issues and a manner for cooperation in a synodal approach in Luxembourg on August 28-29.

“The synodal process is Holy Spirit-inspired, an irreversible process, and an axial missionary moment for Asia,” said Cardinal Bo.

“More than an office, communication is also a mission,” said Dr. Paolo Ruffini.

The consultation is to articulate the attributes, criteria, and cultural expressions of synodal formation in Asia and formulate plans of action for implementing synodal formation in the various ministries of the Church in Asia.

Cardinal Bo said Synod Asia would provide content for the Church in Asia and the media.

Approach to communication must be with the believer's heart, said Archbishop Thomas D'Souza.

he participating delegates consist of representatives of 17 Conferences of Bishops and 2 Synods of Bishops, representing the 29 countries that constitute the Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences (FABC).

The continental level study is based on the 50-page document issued by the Synodal secretariate last October titled “Enlarge the Space of your Tent”.

The General Conference to mark the 50th anniversary of its foundation will be held on October 12-30, 2022 at the Pastoral Center of the Archdiocese of Bangkok, Baan Phu Waan, Thailand, with the theme “FABC 50: Journeying together as peoples of Asia”, and the biblical leitmotif, “… and they went a different way” (Mt 2:12).
