The Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences (FABC) is eyeing the creation of a new office dedicated to pushing Synodality forward across their continent.

According to Indian Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão, the new FABC president, they are planning to establish the Office for Synodal Transformation to cater to the diverse pastoral realities of the Asian region.

In a letter to the FABC members, he encouraged the “sharing of ideas, resources, and experiences” that will guide everyone down the path on the Synodal path.

“We need to find ways to collaborate more effectively as dioceses, conferences, and between
continents,” said the cardinal.

The creation of the said office will be discussed in detail during the upcoming FABC Central Committee meeting in March 2025.

Cardinal Ferrão said it will provide ongoing formation for bishops on Synodality and enhance
coordination between FABC and the other continental episcopal conferences.

Last August, the FABC Office on Social Communications launched its own website dedicated to the Synod on Synodality.

Furthermore, Cardinal Ferrão was also elected to the Ordinary Council of the Synod’s General
Secretariat as one of the representatives from Asia, alongside Filipino Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David, the new FABC vice president.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
