Bishop of Rajshahi in Bangladesh distributes Christmas gifts to poor
The bishop of the Diocese of Rajshahi in Bangladesh led the distribution of financial assistance to poor residents on Dec. 19.
"The joy of Christmas is in sharing, so it is the responsibility of each of us to share your food with the hungry, to give shelter to the homeless and the poor, and to clothe them when they see someone naked,” said Bishop Gervas Rozario of Rajshahi.
“It is our moral responsibility,” he said, adding that he hopes “every faithful in our diocese will be able to celebrate Christmas joyfully and peacefully.”
“For the poor family, I have taken this little initiative in the name of our diocese,” he said. The prelate also urged the faithful to lend a helping hand to make Christmas meaningful for everyone.
He said Christmas is not only a celebration but also a reminder of divine love. “Let us all together make the joy of Christmas in our lives through love,” he said.
It has been a tradition of the diocese through its social action arm, Caritas, to provide financial assistance of about 3 million taka to the poorest families in the area.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
