Radio Veritas Asia holds multilingual Rosary for the repose of Pope Francis

Radio Veritas Asia holds a special Rosary on April 25, 2025, uniting Asia in prayer for the repose of Pope Francis.

In a moving tribute to the late Pope Francis, Radio Veritas Asia (RVA) organized a special Rosary prayer service on April 25, uniting voices across Asia to pray for the eternal repose of his soul.

The Rosary began with a solemn prayer by Fr. Anbu Selvam, who entrusted the pope to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. His words reflected the late pope’s deep Marian devotion and passionate advocacy for peace, justice, and care for creation.

We prayed the Sorrowful Mysteries with meditations and Scripture readings in multiple Asian languages—Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Vietnamese, Khmer, Sinhala, Telugu, Mandarin, Hmong, Tamil, and more. This multilingual format embodied Francis’ vision of an inclusive, multicultural Church journeying together in unity and faith.

Each mystery was offered for intentions dear to the pope’s heart: global peace, the dignity of the poor, healing for the sick, protection of the environment, and unity within the Church.

Fr. Francis Han concluded the devotion with the “Hail Holy Queen” and a final blessing, praying for eternal rest for Pope Francis and renewed faith for all participants.

RVA General Manager Fr. Victor Sadaya reflected, “The Holy Rosary portrays the life journey of Jesus. As we pray for Pope Francis, we also recall his journey with the Church, especially his dedication to synodality.”

RVA Program Director Fr. John Mi Shen offered a heartfelt tribute: “We gather today with heavy hearts as we mourn our beloved Holy Father. In his final wishes, he asked to be buried in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore—a place where he often prayed to Mary. Through this Rosary, we spiritually unite with him, asking Mary to welcome him into eternal peace. Let us carry forward his legacy of humility, courage, and compassion by living our faith with joy and love.”

The Rosary concluded with a renewed commitment among the faithful to live the synodal path—listening, journeying, and discerning together, as Pope Francis so deeply encouraged.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
