Bangladesh's legendary Christian musician Joseph Kamal Rodrigues dies
Bangladesh's legendary Christian musician Joseph Kamal Rodrigues died in Dhaka's Green Life Hospital on January 31. He was 68 years old.
Rodrigues earlier tested positive of the new coronavirus diseases. He was also suffering from a kidney disease.
The artist was a Nazrul and Christian Sangeet musician and a skilled lyricist and composer who made significant contribution to the world of Bengali music.
He was a prominent Nazrul musician for Bangladesh television and radio.
He started broadcasting songs on Bangladesh Betar from 1970 and Bangladesh Television from 1972.
He has worked as music director for Bangladesh Television. He has also acted as a judge in various television and school music competitions.
Rodrigues has recorded 80 songs as a lyricist, composer, director and artist of Christian hymn.
He was born on August 12, 1952, in Kaliganj to Paul Rodrigues and Priscilla Rodrigues.
He started his music education in Bulbul Lolatokala and took up music training from PC Gomez. He also trained Rabindra Nazrul Sangeet for five years.
