SIGNIS Asia Elects New President
Delhi archdiocesan priest Father Stanley Kozhichira was elected president of Signis Asia, June 14, in an election conducted online. He succeeds Father Joseph Anucha of Thailand.
Signis Asia is part of the international Catholic organization for communication, and its members include professional communicators and institutions involved in communication media, including, radio, television, press, cinema, video, internet, media education and new media technologies.
50-year-old Father Stanley is currently the President of Signis India. Soon after his election as Signis Asia President he said, he wished to contribute to make Signis a brand among the Catholic youth and media fraternity. “Teamwork and collective decision making would be among my priorities”, he added.
Father Kozhichira has a Masters in degree in Communication, and has worked as a theatre activist, trainer and pastor. He is also involved in promoting environment, and established an eco-spirituality centre named, Ish Vatika, (God’s Garden) in Delhi.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
