Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary congregation marks its 75th anniversary of presence in Japan

The Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary (SS.CC) celebrated its 75th anniversary in Japan at Tomobu Monastery on November 4, 2024.

On November 4, 2024, the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary (SS.CC) celebrated its 75th anniversary of SS.CC's presence in Japan at Tomobu Monastery.

Bishop Don Mario Michiaki Yamanouchi S.D.B. of Saitama, Japan, presided over the Mass, joined by SSCC members in Japan and the Philippines, as well as priests from the local diocese.

Bishop Paul Daisuke Narui, S.V.D., of Niigata, congratulated SSCC members working in Japan.

“We are grateful to have our missionary vicar in the Niigata Diocese. He prayed for God's abundant blessings upon their future steps.

“I am extremely grateful for being able to work together here in the Niigata Diocese. May God bless them abundantly in the coming years, too,” the prelate added.

Father Pierre Coudrin founded the SSCC congregation for priests and brothers in 1800, Rue de Picpus, Paris, France. 

The congregation has communities in West European countries, North and South America, Southern Africa, and Asia, among others.

In Asia, they work in Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, and India.

 

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
