Japanese nun returns to her home country after 20 years of service in Cambodia

A Japanese nun, who worked for 20 years in Cambodia, returned to her home country on March 11.
Sister Hashimoto Shin Ko, a member of Sister of the Child Jesus (REJ), spent more than two decades of her missionary work in Cambodia.
She helped, encouraged, supported, and loved Cambodian people and Cambodian children.
Her last missionary work was in the Battambang Apostolic Prefecture of the Catholic Church. The area is in northwest Cambodia.
The current Apostolic Prefect, Jesuit Bishop Enrique Figaredo Alvargonzalez, thanked the nun for her selfless service in Cambodia.
Anne-Marie Martel (1644–1673) founded Sister of the Child Jesus (French: Soeurs de l'Enfant-Jésus) in 1676 in Le Puy-en-Velay, France, to serve those in need.
The Sisters of the Child Jesus are involved in various ministries and serve around the world, including within the Battambang Apostolic Prefecture in Cambodia, where they maintain a presence, including at the St. Therese of the Child Jesus Parish.
The parish, including the church, a kindergarten, and a parish pastoral center, has a history in Battambang and is part of the broader activities of the Church in Cambodia.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
