The Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development has revealed that Pope Francis chose “Migrants, Missionaries of Hope” as the theme for the 2025 World Day of Migrants and Refugees.

Scheduled to be observed on October 4-5, 2025, this special day will coincide with the Jubilee of Migrants and the Missionary World, offering a moment for the faithful to reflect on the resilience and faith of displaced individuals.

In its announcement, the Vatican underscored how migrants and refugees embody hope through their perseverance in seeking a better future.

“Through their experiences and journeys, migrants become missionaries of hope, enriching the communities that welcome them. Their presence often strengthens faith and fosters interreligious dialogue rooted in shared values,” the Dicastery stated.

The statement further emphasized that migrants serve as a reminder of the Church’s ultimate mission—journeying toward the eternal homeland promised by God.

First established in 1914, the World Day of Migrants and Refugees is an annual occasion for Catholics to pray for and support those displaced by war, persecution, and economic hardships.

As the world prepares for the 2025 Jubilee Year, this theme encourages believers to recognize migrants as individuals seeking refuge and as instruments of renewal, faith, and unity.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
