Cambodia pays respects to Pope Francis

The Apostolic Prefecture of Battambang in Cambodia organized an interfaith meeting to pay respects to Pope Francis on April 23, 2025.

Hispanha V. Sovicha, head of the Buddhist Branch of Sihanoureach University, Battambang Province, and associates attended the ceremony to honor the spirit of Pope Francis, the leader of the Catholic religion of the world, with the Catholic Community of Battambang Village (Yayji Hospital).

Various interfaith youth groups in Battambang Province, including Buddhism, Islam, the Maha Dharma Metri, the Bahai Religion, and Christianity, attended it.

The branch of Sihanoukreach Buddhist University, Battambang Province, would like to express our deepest condolences to the Catholic community in Battambang village, the Catholic community in Cambodia, and around the world for the death of Pope Francis on April 21, 2025.

Enrique Figaredo Alvargonzalez, apostolic prefect of Battambang in Cambodia, thanked the organizers and various religious youth groups, leaders, and others from every walk of life who attended the occasion.

In his brief talk, Alvargonzalez shared about the life and contribution of Francis, especially his commitment to promoting peace, social justice, and interreligious dialogue in the world.

Other leaders from different religions also spoke on Pope Francis.
