Pope Francis has expressed his prayerful support and encouragement to the Missionaries of Mercy as they gather in Rome for their 2025 Jubilee, reaffirming their vital role in bringing God’s forgiveness to a broken world.
Vatican officials said the procedure had been agreed to in previous days because the pontiff suffers from recurrent, painful and worsening sub-occlusive syndrome due to a lacerated incisional hernia.
Known as Towards Full Presence, the document presented by the Vatican's Dicastery of Communication to the media on May 29 stated, "Even on social media, we have to decide whether to be Good Samaritans or indifferent bystanders."
In his message for the 57th World Day of Social Communications, Pope Francis wrote that people involved in social communications should communicate honestly and sincerely.
"The dicastery is also working on the preparation of a text that will specifically concern men and women who, having a failed marriage behind them, live in new unions," Farrel said.
“Urbi et Orbi” means “To the City [of Rome] and to the World.” It is a special apostolic blessing given by the pope every year on Easter Sunday, Christmas, and other special occasions.
“Helping each other, even through simple human gestures, springs from a noble heart, and Jesus today wishes to teach us and encourage us to have this "nobility of heart," said Pope Francis.

Meeting in the Vatican with a group of parishioners from Rho, in the Milan Archdiocese, Pope Francis highlights the importance of walking together as brothers and sisters, during his audience on Saturday.
“Water must never be the object of waste or abuse, or provide the grounds for war, but must be preserved for our benefit and that of future generations,” Pope Francis says.
