Trusting God's Timing
July 30, Tuesday of the Seventeenth Week in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings: Jeremiah 14:17-22; Matthew 13:36-43
Jesus teaches the parable of the weeds and the wheat, explaining that the kingdom of heaven is like a farmer who sows good seed, but an enemy sows weeds among the wheat. The farmer instructs his servants to let both grow until the harvest, when the reapers will separate the wheat from the weeds.
This parable reflects our spiritual journey. Just as the farmer allows weeds to grow with the wheat, we encounter both positive and negative influences in our lives. While striving to live faithfully, we face temptations and challenges.
The parable emphasizes patience and trust in God's plan. Just as the farmer knows the harvest will bring separation, we must trust that God will ultimately separate us from worldliness and sin. Faith and perseverance are key as we strive for holiness amidst temptation.
Call to Action for Catholic Living: Let us ask God for the grace to discern patiently between what is true and false, good and evil, pleasing and unpleasing to Him.
May we always be good seeds that produce a hundredfold in God's kingdom. Amen.
