March 27, 2025 Thursday of the Third Week of Lent
Daily Readings: Jeremiah 7:23-28; Luke 11:14-23
Today’s Gospel presents us with a confrontation between Christ and the forces of evil. Jesus casts out a demon, but some of His listeners refuse to acknowledge God's power at work. Instead, they accuse Him of drawing His strength from Satan. Jesus responds with wisdom: a kingdom divided against itself cannot stand. If Satan were destroying his own power, his reign would collapse. Thus, Jesus' miracles prove that the kingdom of God is at hand.
This passage calls us to deep reflection: in which kingdom do we live? Christ reminds us that there is no neutrality: “Whoever is not with me is against me” (Lk 11:23). We are called to choose our allegiance. Do we want to live under Jesus' lordship, or remain under the influence of evil?
In our world, the spiritual battle is very real. The enemy seeks to divide, to turn hearts away from God through sin, fear, and doubt. But God offers us His grace and protection. As Psalm 91 says: “For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways” (Ps 91:11).
Jesus shows us that victory belongs to those who remain faithful to Him. When He reigns in our hearts and our homes, Satan has no place. Let us fully trust Him, submit ourselves to His love, and boldly proclaim that we stand with Christ.
