Youth United for Christ-leaders’ grand conference held in south India
The Catholic Charismatic Renewal International Service (CHARIS) and National Service of Communion (CNSC) held the Youth United for Christ (YU4C) - Leaders Grand Conference from October 22 to 25 at the Christeen Retreat Center, Kalathipady, Kottayam, Kerala, south India.
The YURC is the official youth ministry of CHARIS-India. All Catholic Charismatic youth members are part of the YU4C.
The program was conducted under the guidance of Archbishop Francis Kalist, Episcopal advisor, Catholic Charismatic Renewal, India.
Father Joseph Thamaravely (coordinator, Kerala Service of Communion) and Brother Silven Miranda (coordinator, CNSC India) presided over the gathering.
Chev. Cyril John (elder, YU4C India), and Brother Linus D’Costa (elder, YU4C India) were invited to be guest speakers at the conference.
Sister Paulina Melite, a member of the Missionary Sisters of Mary Immaculate and secretary, CNSC, and Brother Ajin Joseph (coordinator, YU4C India) took the responsibility of organizing the grand event at the center.
As many as 106 youths gathered from different parts of India belonging to the YU4C regions and 21 dioceses of Delhi, Meerut, Ahmedabad, Ajmer, Indore, Darjeeling-Sikkim, Salem, Pune, Mumbai, Vasai, Pune, Thalisherry, Ernjalikuda, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Bongaigaon, Chennai, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, and Visakhapatnam.
Inauguration and lighting of the lamp by Father Joseph Thamaravelly, Brother Silven Miranda, CNSC coordinator, Sister Paulina, Brother Ajin Joseph, YU4C national coordinator, and Brother Calvin Lewis, YU4C Kerala coordinator), followed by Holy Mass celebrated by Father Thamaravelly.
The first talk on Christian visionary leadership, pitfalls of leadership, and casting a vision by Brother Silven, followed by adoration with the "called to leadership" theme, was conducted by Sister Paulina. Praise and worship and hymns were led by YU4C Vasai.
The second day began with Holy Mass by Father Joe Swmkwr, followed by a powerful spirit-led talk on pro-life ministry, contraception, abortion, pornography, LGBTQIA+ heresy, and chastity by Sister Paulina.
A workshop was conducted on initiating pro-life ministry, prophetic intercession outside abortion clinics, and a national march for life to promulgate a culture of life in India concerning the encyclical "Evangelium Viate" (the Gospel of Life, 1995) by Pope John Paul II.
The second talk was on the principles of leading praise and worship by Brother Ajin, followed by beautiful, anointed praise and worship by YU4C Sikkim-Darjeeling.
Talk three dealt with prophetic intercession by Chev. John. He explained how intercession is the backbone of any prayer group, with many testimonials happening throughout the world through prophetic intercession.
Day three started with Holy Mass celebrated by Father Joe, and the day was spent on a houseboat in the backwaters of Allepy, Kerala, singing, dancing, and rejoicing with the Lord.
Anointed praise and worship are led by YU4C Pune and Vasai. The talk on the principles of teaching and the workshop are led by Brother Ajin.
Day four started with Holy Mass by Father Jose Navez, chancellor of Vijaypuram Diocese, taking the youth through the magnificence of the Holy Eucharist and the cost of discipleship, followed by a powerful spirit-led talk on delegation of leadership and charisms by Brother Linus D’Costa.
The retreat ended with Eucharistic Adoration.
"The program was conducted with devotion. It was held wonderfully to show the love of Jesus," said Abhishiek Thompson, a participant from the Visakhapatnam archdiocese.
The CHARIS is an international service body established by the Holy See, through the Dicastery for the Laity, Family, and Life, endowed with public juridical personality.
Under the guidance of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference India, Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) delegates the CHARIS National Service of Communion (CNSC) and it is established for the renewal services in India.
