Radio Veritas Asia Marks 56th Anniversary with Laudato Si’ Campaign Launch

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA) celebrated its 56th founding anniversary on April 11 with the launch of a year-long Laudato Si’ campaign, reaffirming its commitment to ecological conversion, truth-telling, and care for our common home.

The celebration began with a Holy Mass led by Fr. Victor Sadaya, CMF, general manager of RVA, followed by the Laudato Si’ Way of the Cross. The event gathered RVA staff, students of IFAsia, and the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary, who reflected on Christ’s passion through the lens of ecological justice.

Fr. Victor reminded everyone, saying, “The celebration of RVA’s 56th foundation day is not just to recall its beginnings, but to renew our commitment to be a voice of Asian Christianity and truth amidst growing disinformation.”

Fr. Mi Shen, program director of RVA and executive secretary of the Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences (FABC) Office of Social Communication, said the campaign draws inspiration from the FABC’s pastoral letter Caring for Creation, marking the 10th anniversary of Laudato Si’.

“Through features, webinars, stories, and contests, we aim to raise ecological awareness and inspire action in church communities across Asia,” he noted.

The Way of the Cross opened the campaign with prayer and reflection, underscoring the link between faith, creation, and human responsibility.

Founded in 1969, RVA has long stood as a beacon of faith-based media in Asia, broadcasting programs in 12 languages and reaching millions of listeners with its message of truth, peace, justice, and integral human development.

In its 56th year, RVA continues to adapt to the changing times, bringing the Gospel to life through the media with a renewed focus on the poor, the marginalized, and the environment.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
