Malaysian Church organizes Nurses’ Day
The Catholic Nurses Guild, West Malaysia celebrated on May 12 Nurses Day.
Almost 70 nurses and student nurses from the Klang Valley gathered for the first time in two years after helping fight the pandemic.
The celebration also included several doctors and pharmacists.
Caregiver participants recognized nursing's indispensable role in healthcare with the theme “Nurses a voice to lead: Invest in nursing and respect human rights.”
To sustain humanity, nurses are at the forefront of caring for the sick, the tired, and those striving to be healthy.
Monsignor Patrick Boudville, from the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur, celebrated Mass at the Church of St Thomas More to begin the gathering.
Taking the role of Ecclesiastical Assistant for the Catholic Nurses Guild, Monsignor Boudville commended nurses for their dedicated efforts and reminded them to take care of themselves.
He also said they could consult him if they needed spiritual guidance for work or family life.
Monsignor Boudville pointed out that God placed each nurse in their current position for a reason, and said that they are to be the link between the Church and the sick, particularly during these restricted visiting hours.
The long-overdue fellowship after Mass was full of happy conversation as friendships were renewed and new ones made.
Catholic nurses look forward to more get-togethers to refocus and renew their faith as nurses and Monsignor Boudville offered the church as a venue for such gatherings. - Anbu Selvam
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
