Indonesian Bishops' Conference to hold Synodal session
The Indonesian Bishops' Conference (KWI) will hold a synod meeting with the theme "Walking Together to Realize Fellowship, Participation, and Mission" from November 14–18 in Bandung, Indonesia.
Father Paulus Christian Siswantoko, executive secretary of KWI, said, "With this topic, the bishops wish to contemplate and realize friendship as fellow pastors and pastors with the people who are walking together to proclaim the Good News as the Church's primary vocation."
In light of this theme, Father Siswantoko hoped that this session would also listen and think about the many pastoral care activities of the Commissions, Secretariat, and other institutions that work under the Indonesian Bishops' Conference.
"This partnership is also meant to encourage different groups to work together to build a system for living together that is peaceful, caring, and respectful," continued Father Siswantoko.
Bishops or their representatives from 37 dioceses, secretaries of commissions, institutions, secretariats, and departments in the KWI Office, and the High Leadership Conference will all be at this synod.
At the inaugural ceremony, there will be the Vatican Ambassador to Indonesia, the Chair of the Communion of Churches in Indonesia (PGI), and the Director General of Catholic Community Guidance.
KWI was founded in Surabaya in November 1955. The KWI is affiliated with the Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences (FABC). This organization tries to get Catholic leaders in Indonesia to work together and be more united in their pastoral duties.
