India: Basic training for catechists in Nepali held

On April 24, 2024, at Salesian College Sonada in Darjeeling, India, the training that had started in 2022 with Bengali catechists in Nitika Don Bosco, Calcutta, India.

The two-year Basic Training for Catechists (BTC) in four languages—Bengali, Hindi, Santhali, and Nepali—concluded with phase II catechist training in Nepali.

On April 24, 2024, at Salesian College Sonada in Darjeeling, India, the training that had started in 2022 with Bengali catechists in Nitika Don Bosco, Calcutta, India, finally ended.

For the Nepali Phase II training, 28 catechists from the Darjeeling and Sikkim regions participated. They began their training on April 21 and ended on April 24.

Father Kumuda Digal, director of Catechetics India, organized the program, as did Father Patrick Lepcha, South Asia Youth Director, and Father Pawanjit Singh, Dean and Bursar of Salesian College.

Salesians and diocesan priests from the Diocese of Darjeeling served as the session's resource persons.

Bishop Stephen Lepcha of Darjeeling-Sikkim diocese was present to encourage the trainees.
