Satprakashan Sanchar Kendra Centre trains CCBI commission for women coordinators in media

The regional communication center, Satprakashan Sanchar Kendra, organized a four-day Media training program for the 25 women coordinators of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CBCI) commission for women in Indore, Madhya Pradesh from June 16 to 19.

The training, dubbed “Click and Create, Capture, and Edit,” gave participants hands-on experience with camera operation, editing, and recording.

The training began with the celebration of the Holy Mass presided over by Father Dixson SVD, who was also the keynote speaker for the event.

Sister Lidwin UFS, the Executive Secretary for the CCBI Commission for Women, formally opened the program with a welcoming address.

Father Dixson shared how one should become an authentic communicator in an unauthentic media world.

He also explained how communication evolved from Dordarshan (Old National Television) to modern (social media) communication.

Father Dixson also stressed the need for modern communication and described it as a “quick and spontaneous expression of our feelings.”

He noted how anyone can become popular on social media nowadays, even if they are not professionals in the media field.

Sister. Ganga SSpS (from what organization?) shared her expertise in writing news for secular newspapers, magazines, church websites, and more.

Father Anthony Swamy, SVD, the National Communication Coordinator of SVD India Sub-Zone, led practical sessions on photography.

Participants learned about professional photography, including camera angles, composition, dramatic photography, event photography, liturgical photography, and how to edit photos using applications.

They were also introduced to recording and conducting interviews in a professional studio.

As part of their practical training, the women coordinators were able to design a new website for the CBCI Commission for Women, which will be officially launched in October.

The training concluded with a message from Most Rev. Chacko Thottumarickal, SVD, the Bishop of Indore.

He said, “Christ is truth, so we need to side with the truth and communicate the truth, which we need to get into media and communication. We need to pray constantly to the God of truth that we may communicate the truth”.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
