Ratan Tata

In memory of Ratan Tata, an iconic industrialist, visionary leader, and philanthropist who contributed incredibly to society for generations to come, the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) mourns his passing on October 9, 2024.

"Ratan Tata was not merely a titan of industry, but a beacon of compassion and generosity," the CCBI said in a statement.

The CCBI stated, "Through the Tata Trusts and his numerous philanthropic initiatives, he transformed the lives of millions, championing the cause of the marginalized and playing a pivotal role in India's development. His unwavering commitment to social justice, education, healthcare, and rural development deeply resonates with the core values of the Catholic Church, particularly in its mission to serve the poor and vulnerable."

He established a new standard for corporate social responsibility in India through his ethical leadership, integrity, and commitment to social causes.

With this recognition, the CCBI acknowledges his impressive contribution to nation-building as well as his role in positioning India as a global economic powerhouse while never losing sight of the need to help the poor.

The Catholic Church in India prays fervently for this remarkable person's soul to rest and sends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, and everyone he touched with his inspirational leadership and unending kindness. We are saying goodbye to this remarkable person.

In their prayers, the faithful are urged by the CCBI to remember Mr. Ratan Tata and ask God to grant him eternal rest and comfort for his grieving family.

Future generations will be motivated to work toward improving society and to serve others with compassion and selflessness through the work he has done throughout his life.

Echoing the ideals that Ratan Tata upheld throughout his remarkable life, the CCBI reiterates its dedication to advancing a more just and equitable society in remembrance of the great man.
