Effective Catechesis is aimed at Catechetical Ministry Course for Diocesan Directors

The diocesan directors and catechetical collaborators have participated in an intensive course on the organization and administration of catechetical ministry at Shanti Sadan, Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) Centre, Goa, western India.

From June 10 to 15, 2024, the diocesan directors and catechetical collaborators will participate in an intensive course on the organization and administration of catechetical ministry at Shanti Sadan, Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) Centre, Goa, western India.

Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrao, President of the CCBI, presided over the inaugural Eucharistic celebration.

He stated in his message, "As catechists, God calls us, forms us, and sends us for a particular apostolate."

Following the Eucharistic celebration, he released the book "Readings in Catechetics," authored by Father Gilbert Choondal, SDB.

The Catechetical Ministry Course for Diocesan Directors aims to achieve effective catechesis.

The entire course is organized by the CCBI Catechetical Commission in collaboration with Fr. Duming Gonsalves, administrator, Shanti Sadan.

The goal of the course is to train diocesan directors, secretaries, and catechetical collaborators in the organization and administration of catechetical ministry within their respective dioceses and provinces.

The course covers topics including catechetics fundamentals, catechetics organization at different levels, and age-level catechetics for infants, children, adolescents, youth, adults, senior citizens, and differently abled persons. The course includes both theoretical and practical sessions.

Father Vijay Machado, Father Boniface Pinto, and Father Gilbert Choondal are the course's resource persons. There are 35 participants from different parts of India.

The course also features a catechetical pilgrimage.
