As Australia approaches its federal election on May 3, 2025, the Australian Bishops have called on all Catholics to be beacons of hope in the face of economic struggles and increasing political polarization on April 7.

In their electoral statement titled “Called to Bring Hope in the Year of Jubilee,” the bishops encourage voters to embody the spirit of hope inspired by the Jubilee Year and to consider the moral and social direction of the nation when casting their votes.

Amid the election campaign, which focuses on issues like the cost of living, housing, healthcare, immigration, and climate action, the bishops emphasize the importance of resolving conflicts through peaceful dialogue and democratic means.

They also stress the role of well-formed consciences in guiding Catholic voters, urging them to make decisions based on truth, justice, and the common good.

The statement highlights key issues for reflection, including the sanctity of life, support for families, religious freedom, and responsible stewardship of God's creation.

The Bishops also reaffirm the principles of Catholic Social Teaching: human dignity, the common good, subsidiarity, and solidarity, calling Catholics to uphold these values in their vote.

A prayer at the end of the statement seeks Christ's guidance over the nation and its diverse people.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
