IPSBU Members Undertake Holy Door Pilgrimage for Jubilee 2025

More than 80 members of the Indian Priests, Sisters, and Brothers’ Union (IPSBU), Rome, gathered for a spiritual Holy Door Pilgrimage at St. Peter’s Basilica on April 5, marking their participation in Jubilee Year 2025.

The pilgrimage began at Piazza Pia in the afternoon and brought together clergy and religious from various congregations, rites, and linguistic backgrounds.

The participants walked through the Holy Door as a sign of personal and communal conversion, forgiveness, and unity with the universal Church.

Fr. Alexander, President of IPSBU, welcomed the participants with a reflection on the Jubilee Year, highlighting the Holy Door as a symbol of spiritual renewal and ecclesial communion.

He reminded everyone that this act was not simply a ritual but a grace-filled transition “from sin to grace, from isolation to communion.”

The pilgrimage was prayerful and joyful, with hymns and prayers led by Sr. Jesna Cheriyan FCC (IPSBU Joint Secretary) and Sr. Francisco Nirmala (Secretary, IINDOGAT), setting a reverent tone for the journey.

At the Tomb of St. Peter, the group professed the Creed in unity, symbolizing their faith and mission.

The Rosary was prayed inside the Basilica, followed by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at the Altar of the Chair of St. Peter.

The Mass gathered the intentions, hopes, and thanksgiving of the IPSBU community into one sacred offering.

Organized by the IPSBU Core Team and Executive Members, with support from Vatican officials, the pilgrimage was a moment of grace and fraternity.

Fr. Alexander expressed gratitude to all participants and coordinators for making the event meaningful and prayerful.

The Holy Door pilgrimage will be remembered as a powerful spiritual experience for IPSBU members, inspiring them to continue their mission in Rome and around the world as true “Pilgrims of Hope.” - Sanjay Tirkey, CSsR, secretary, IPSBU
