On August 22, the Archdiocese of Ende, Flores, Indonesia, celebrated the consecration and installation of Msgr. Paulus Budi Kleden as its new archbishop. 

Indonesia is home to the world's largest population of Muslims - - much bigger than the combined populations of Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Iran.

The Pope will fly for a 12-day visit to Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste, and Singapore in September.

The Vatican, with a population of 526 as of July 3 according to Worldometer, is 100 percent Catholic. But unlike Timor-Leste, the Vatican is not a member of the UN.

Flores has more than 2,700 Catholic churches across the island. These churches are seen to become pilgrimage routes shortly, further driving religious and cultural tourism.

Pope Francis has established the Diocese of Labuan Bajo in West Manggarai, Flores, Indonesia, following extensive preparation by Bishop Siprianus Hormat, local priests, and the faithful.

An Indonesian bishop said that every Catholic must promote environmental stewardship since “encountering ecology is also encountering the Creator.”

The cathedral was built right across the Istigla Mosque, which is Jakarta's largest mosque. This demonstrates the Indonesians' respect for religions and cultures.

Pope Francis appointed Father Hironimus Pakaenoni as the new bishop of the Archdiocese of Kupang on March 9.
