During Mass for the Sunday of the Word of God – the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time – Pope Francis conferred the new ministry of Catechist on five men and three women from various parts of the world.

The word of God is not only to be believed but to be practiced and lived. Those who hear the Word of God and act upon it are joined to Jesus by a bond that is even greater than the ties created by blood.

It is God who takes the first step to save humanity by sowing good seeds/giving each of us ample time and free Will to make our choices adequately.
Reflect, today, upon these disciples and their need to reflect upon the Word of God so as to understand, believe and have their eyes opened. Know that you need this same grace.
Reflect, today, upon this Gospel scene. Ponder, especially, the friends of this man as they are inspired to bring him to Jesus. Ask our Lord to use you in a similar way.
