Recently a high-level human rights team of the UN which included the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention and the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders, have made public a letter they had written to the Government of India expressing their concern over the “alleged arbitrary detention of human rights defender Stan Swamy”.
Father Carlos Gonzalez Valles, who spent five decades in India and left his imprint on the country authoring 78 books in the Gujarati language, passed away in Madrid, Spain Oct. 9. He was 95 years of age.
