According to the Cardinal, the church invites those who are sick to bring their “sufferings closer to the sufferings of Christ, include in your sacrifice the sacrifice of his body and blood, and use it for the good of others.”
“We thank the Holy Father Pope Francis for this honour bestowed upon them in recognition of their outstanding services to the Church, especially in charity and social service,” Cardinal Advincula said.
Cardinal Jose Advincula, new archbishop of Manila, led Church leaders in offering prayers for the country’s former president, Benigno Aquino III, who died on June 24.
