Two Decades of Compassion: Celebrating 20 Years of "Pondo ng Pinoy's" Mission
Pondo ng Pinoy has embodied the spirit of generosity and compassion, transforming countless lives through its commitment to fostering hope for the underprivileged.
"Pondo ng Pinoy," an anti-poverty initiative launched by the Manila Archdiocese, celebrated a remarkable milestone on June 12, marking 20 years of unwavering service.
Established in 2004 by Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales, the initiative was grounded in the “theology of crumbs,” promoting the idea that even the smallest acts of kindness can collectively make a significant impact.
Celebrating 20 Years of Transformative Impact and Generosity
“Pondo ng Pinoy” (Fund of Filipinos), an anti-poverty initiative of the Manila Archdiocese, celebrated its 20 years of service on June 12.
“This milestone is a testament to the enduring spirit of generosity and compassion that has flourished within our community,” said Audy Reginaldo, Pondo ng Pinoy Program Coordinator.
“We celebrate not only the transformative impact on the lives of those who have received support but also the boundless kindness and commitment of the givers,” he added.
Because of their selfless contributions, Pondo ng Pinoy has been extending a helping hand to those in need, fostering hope, and creating opportunities for countless individuals and families.
Each small act of kindness has collectively made a profound difference, underscoring the power of unity and the spirit of bayanihan.
“As we commemorate two decades of service, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the givers and receivers from our 32 member dioceses whose collaborative efforts have been the cornerstone of Pondo ng Pinoy's success,” said Reginaldo.
“The unity and dedication of these dioceses have enabled us to build a network of care and support that transcends boundaries and brings our mission to life. Together, we have created a legacy of kindness, love, and generosity that inspires us to continue our work,” he added.
There are more years to come to make a difference, hand in hand, as one community united in purpose and compassion, Reginaldo said.
Pondo ng Pinoy promotes raising funds, as much as collecting 25 cents. Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales, archbishop emeritus of Manila, started in 2004 to help the poor, needy, and marginalized communities, anchored on the “theology of crumbs.”
Unity and Compassion: The Heartbeat of Pondo ng Pinoy's Mission
The enduring spirit of bayanihan and the love of the Filipino people continue to drive the program's commitment to improving the lives of those in need.
In addition to encouraging daily donations of 25 cents in the various parishes and schools, the Church initiative shows a persistent desire for solidarity.
A Filipino proverb reads: "Anumang Maliit, just malimit patungong ay langit (A nice gesture, however small, if done often, can lead to heaven)." This action turned out to be a potent instrument for improving the lives of others who were less fortunate.
According to him, Pondo ng Pinoy enables Filipinos to show solidarity in the simplest way possible for needy people.
Pondo ng Pinoy supports numerous initiatives, including those that address education, poverty reduction, housing, livelihood, health, nutrition, and the development of alternative and practical skills.
Pondo ng Pinoy's 20-year support has led to the improvement of thousands of children's nutritional status, access to education for underprivileged children, youth, and adults, the establishment of healthy living conditions in depressed areas, the creation of opportunities for impoverished families to generate income and skills for a livelihood, the assistance in securing decent housing for displaced families, and the empowerment and opportunity to live a life of dignity and hope.
The beneficiaries bear witness to its dedication throughout the past 20 years, and donors are responsible for inspiring Pondo ng Pinoy's spirituality (Luke 16:19–31).
Pondo ng Pinoy commemorated its 20th anniversary with the theme “Invigorating Pondo ng Pinoy’s Mission in Our Journey as Pilgrims of Hope,” marking a momentous occasion this year.
"This subject represents our strategic vision for the future as well as our mission's 20 years of accomplishments. It symbolizes our steadfast dedication to becoming a lighthouse of "Pag-ibig ng Panginoon, Pag-asa ng Pilipino"—the love of the Lord and the hope of the Filipino people—especially for the underprivileged and disenfranchised, according to Reginaldo.
"Our selected theme is in harmony with the overall Jubilee 2025 theme, 'Pilgrims of Hope,' signifying our shared journey of compassion, hope, and faith," he continued.
He declared, "We hope to uplift the faithful with this theme, reaffirming our commitment to providing love and hope to those in need."
Join Pondo ng Pinoy in its efforts to support underprivileged populations and marginalized groups.
He urged everyone to "learn more about our mission and to share their small acts of kindness."

The initiative's theme, “Invigorating Pondo ng Pinoy’s Mission in Our Journey as Pilgrims of Hope,” aligns with the broader Jubilee 2025 theme, symbolizing a continued journey of faith and solidarity.
