Trusting in God's Power: Strengthening Faith Through Trials
June 23, Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings: Jb 38:1, 8-11; 2 Corinthians 5:14-17; Mark 4:35-41
In the first reading, God reveals His power to Job, illustrating His command over disasters that could destroy people.
The second reading reminds us that the love of Christ compels us, for one died for all. Thus, whoever is in Christ is a new creation; the old has passed away, and new things have come.
In the Gospel reading, Jesus demonstrates His power over nature, leaving His disciples in awe. While crossing the sea, a great storm arose, causing the disciples to panic.
They woke Jesus, who was asleep, and He calmed the sea, asking them, “Why are you terrified? Do you not yet have faith?”
In life-threatening situations, people react differently: some try to find solutions, others accept their fate, and many turn to God in prayer.
The disciples sought Jesus' help, and with His power, He calmed the storm, rebuking them for their lack of faith.
Faith involves trust in God based on evidence, even without complete proof. Trust is central to faith, whether in a person, duty, or belief.
To strengthen our faith, we must trust in God. Reading the Bible is essential for growing in faith and understanding God's will.
Call to Action for Catholic Living: Just as the disciples sought Jesus' help during the storm, we too should trust in God and strengthen our faith.
Lord, help us to trust in You to strengthen our faith. Amen!
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
