August 30, Friday of the Twenty-first Week in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings: 1 Corinthians 1:17-25; Matthew 25:1-139

The parable of the ten virgins teaches us about preparedness, vigilance, and the nature of our relationship with God.

Jesus tells of ten virgins awaiting the bridegroom's arrival. Five are wise and bring extra oil for their lamps, while the other five are foolish, neglecting this preparation.

When the bridegroom arrives unexpectedly, the wise are ready, but the unprepared foolish ones are locked out of the wedding feast.

This parable urges us to consider the importance of spiritual preparation. The wise virgins represent those who actively cultivate their faith, recognizing that it requires continuous effort and commitment. The foolish virgins symbolize those who take their faith for granted, relying on mere presence without true engagement.

As we reflect on this parable, we must ask ourselves: Are we spiritually prepared? Do we nurture our faith, or do we assume it will take care of itself? How do we respond when the divine calls us unexpectedly?

Call to Action for Catholic Living: Let us be wise stewards of our faith, keeping the oil of love, grace, and readiness always at hand. May we live with intentionality, heart, and open anticipation for what God has in store for us. Amen.
