Rejection and Revelation

Background Music: Panalangin by Mark Anthony Cuevas
    Voiced by: Arlene Donarber

August 2, Friday of the Seventeenth Week in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings: Jeremiah 26:1-9; Matthew 13:54-58

Jesus returns to Nazareth, where familiarity breeds doubt about His authority and miracles. The townspeople ask, "Where did this man get these things?"

In response, Jesus notes that prophets are often rejected by their own.

Jesus' identity extends beyond His human relationships; He is the Son of God. The people of Nazareth knew Him personally but missed His true nature, teaching us that faith comes from revelation, not familiarity.

Rejection tests faith. Despite being rejected, Jesus continued His ministry, trusting in God's mission and approval.

We too may face rejection, but we must stay steadfast, valuing God's approval over human acceptance.

Call to Action for Catholic Living: Seek your true identity and purpose in life. Cultivate relationships that recognize the divine within. Do all things with love for God and others. Amen.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
