August 6, Transfiguration of the Lord
Daily Readings: 1st reading: Daniel 7:9–10, 13–14; 2nd reading: 2 Peter 1:16–19; Gospel; Matthew: 17:1–9.
Peter, James, and John saw a scene so extraordinary that Jesus changed to reveal His glory by donning clothes that shone white and bright, having a face that shone like the sun, and being with Moses and Elijah. This event is known as the Transfiguration of Christ.
God used Moses and Elijah as His messengers during their lifetimes and blessed them. Moses and Elijah are exceptional figures due to the miracles God performed through them, their devotion and sacrifice to God, and their unique deaths in the world, as Moses died and was buried by God without anyone knowing where his grave was (Exodus 34), and Elijah was carried away by a fiery chariot and fiery horses (2 Kings 2).
The Transfiguration of Christ demonstrates that Jesus was no other than what the prophets foretold: that He would have to suffer to enter His glory, and that the Lord Jesus had directly explained about Himself what was written about Him in the Torah and the prophets (Luke 24:26–27).
As always, Glory begins with tribulation. There is no triumph without struggle. To attain success, nothing is simple. Always emphasized in the field of education is the statement, "No one is stupid, but there are lazy people."
As long as God grants us time, let us pursue genuine happiness, for our happiness is not what this world has to offer, but rather eternal happiness that will endure eternally.
