Feast of the Transfiguration
August 6, Tuesday of the Eighteenth Week in Ordinary Time
Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord
Daily Readings: Daniel 7:9-10, 13-14; 2 Peter 1:16-19; Mark 9:2-10
Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord. In the first reading, Daniel envisions God on His throne, with the Son of Man given everlasting dominion.
In the second reading, Peter highlights the importance of eyewitness testimony to Jesus Christ's life, death, and resurrection, affirming the reliability of Scripture.
In the Gospel, Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up a mountain where they witness His transfiguration. His face shines like the sun, His clothes become dazzling white, and a heavenly voice declares, “This is my beloved Son; listen to Him,” as Moses and Elijah appear with Jesus.
The Feast of the Transfiguration reminds us of God's majesty and Jesus Christ's eternal reign. It highlights Jesus' divine power and glory, foreshadowed during His earthly life and fulfilled in His sacrifice on the cross.
Call to Action for Catholic Living: Personal prayer and a deep relationship with God transform our lives, making us living testimonies of His love. We need transformed people to impact the modern world.
United with God, let us radiate His love and mercy as transformed disciples. Amen.
