A memorial prayer service for Pope Francis was held on April 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM, organized by Radio Veritas Tamil Service in collaboration with the Don Guanella Special School and Home Children in Karayanchavadi, Tamil Nadu, India, to honor his legacy of compassion and love for all people.
The tribute was led by the children of a special school in Chennai, Tamil Nadu — children with diverse abilities, together with priests, teachers, staff, and school administrators.
The program was organized under the guidance of Fr. Anandan, Director; Fr. Gabriel, Treasurer; and Fr. Salomon Raja, Assistant Director, in partnership with Fr. Prakash Philomin Raj, Radio Veritas Tamil Coordinator; and program producers Mr. Joseph and Mr. Immanuel.
During the service, the children paid their respects to Pope Francis by lighting candles and offering flowers with deep reverence and simplicity.
Fr. Prakash Philomin Raj reflected on the life of the Holy Father, recalling his humility, his love for children, especially those with special needs, and his profound commitment to a simple and compassionate life.
Fr. Gabriel, the school treasurer, remembered Pope Francis as a leader who guided the Church with wisdom, drew people in with humility and a warm smile, and passionately defended nature.
“He was a servant of God who dedicated his life to compassion, love, justice, integrity, and peace,” he said.
The prayer service concluded with a moment of silence, after which all participants dispersed quietly, holding in their hearts the memory of a pope who truly embodied the Gospel of mercy.
