August 29, Tuesday of the 21st Week in Ordinary Time
Memorial of the Passion of Saint John the Baptist
Daily Readings: First reading:   Jeremiah 1:17–19; Gospel: Mark 6:17–29

It is very hard for a just man to keep quiet after seeing an unjust act before his eyes.

John the Baptist is the best example of this. He was a courageous prophet. He is certain that pointing out a king's error is equivalent to committing suicide.

As soon as he decided to reveal the adultery to the monarch, an axe was placed over his head. Even though he was cognizant of everything, he dared to assert that keeping your brother's wife was illegal.

This unjust society will never permit the existence of just individuals. Herodias represents a society filled with unjust individuals. He rejects John the Baptist, who can condemn wrongdoing. People in the gloom dislike those who carry torches.

Even in modern society, the problem persists. So much evil exists in our society. Many would rather dwell in the dark than in the light. They dislike both the illumination and the torchbearers. However, we cannot be silent.

We must have the courage of John the Baptist, who condemned the evils of society.

Let us endeavor to be just like John the Baptist.

RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
