Calming the storm with Faith

June 28, Tuesday, 13th Week in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings: Amos 3:1-8; 4:11-12 Gospel: Mathew 8:23-27

We are called to have confidence in the Lord regardless of what we face daily

The gospel passage tells us that the Apostles cry when their boat sinks, "Save us, Lord!" They requested assistance. They had observed Jesus perform miracles, such as curing people and casting out demons. Jesus chastised them for their lack of trust.

Jesus' immense compassion allows us to cry out to Him in times of distress like the Apostles did on the boat.

Jesus allows us to seek his assistance out of fear. When we do, he will be there as a father is for a kid who awakens in fear during the night.

Ideally, we will know that such frightening experiences will pass, and we should have faith and remain resilient. However, we should confront the storm with confidence and optimism. This appears to be the most important lesson from today’s gospel story.

In this passage, Jesus tells us to have faith that can't be shaken so that we can be reliable witnesses for him even when things are hard.

How do you respond to adversity and difficulties in your life? Do you still have confidence in the Lord amidst such a storming experience in your life?

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
