Prestigious Human Rights Award conferred on Indian Catholic Priest
‘Eminent Ambassador for Peace and Media Reforms Award’ was conferred on Indian Catholic priest, Father C.M. Paul, SDB, on December 10 at the 12th Human Rights Summit 2022.
The summit was organised by the All India Council of Human Rights, Liberties and Social Justice, at the India Islamic Centre Auditorium, Lodhi Road, New Delhi, on International Human Rights Day
Fr Paul is currently the Director at Radio Salesian (90.8 FM) and Vice Principal at Salesian College, Siliguri, in the Indian state of West Bengal. He was also the editor of the Kolkata-based Catholic weekly ‘The Herald’ for several years.
While accepting the prestigious award, the Salesian Priest said, “this award is for all those who suffer injustice and human rights violation silently.”
He also urged those facing human rights violations and injustice to stand up and make their voices heard.
Other awards that came to Father Paul earlier include the Indian Catholic Press Association (ICPA) John Barrett Best Report Award (2008), Media at the Service of the Gospel Award at the International Catholic Film Festival, Warsaw, Poland (2010) and Ambassador of Jesus Award (AFJ) for outstanding Media Priest (2006)
