The Apostolic Nunciature in India and Nepal asked bishops, clergy, Catholic nuns, and lay faithful to pray for Pope Francis.

In a press note, Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli, Apostolic Nuncio, called upon the Catholic Church in India and around the world, as well as the global community, to cherish and carry forward the inspiring, compassionate, and loving legacy that Pope Francis leaves behind, according to Catholic Connect.

“The Church and the world now mourn the loss of a pontiff who reshaped the papacy through his unwavering focus on mercy, inclusion, and social justice,” the report said.

Pope Francis died on April 21, 2025, at the age of 88 after 12 years of reign. He is the first Jesuit pope and the first from Latin America.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
