Notre Dame nuns’ lay associates hold recollection for Lent

Religious of Notre Dame of the Missions (RNDM) associates

A day-long Lenten program was organized for the Religious of Notre Dame of the Missions (RNDM) associates on April 4, in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The members belong to St. Francis Xavier’s KG school, afternoon (charity) school, and Girls’ High School and College, Luxmibazar, Dhaka.

The RNDM associates are formed by a group of teachers, who are dedicated to working with the nuns as associates.

Sister Gracie Gomes RNDM, the coordinator organized a program for the spiritual preparation of the associate members. It took place in St. Joseph’s Church, Dhorenda Mission, Savar.

The place was conducive to prayers and reflection on the day’s program. The journey started with a short prayer at 7:00 in the morning and reached the destination by noon, said Sister Gomes.

Father Albert Rosario offered the Mass right after the refreshment followed by the prayer service and the Station of the Cross.

At about 2:00 in the afternoon, the group had lunch with some parishioners and they enjoyed the recreation time after their lunch break. Some participants were from the village around the church.

The group was delighted to visit their families after the lunch break.

The participants were glad to go around the village and they met so many people from that area in a short time.

The people were happy to meet the group too. They were able to share their feelings, stories, and problems with the nuns and teachers while they visited them.

The group felt to spend some more time with the people, but the time was short. Nevertheless, it was a successful and happy time for both the parishioners and the participants.

The day was ended by visiting the ‘Krishi Bid’ and ‘The Rose Garden’ where the participants enjoyed the beauty of nature and roses.

It was very much soothing, charming, and feelings of tranquility in the rose garden. At about 6:30 in the evening the bus started its journey back and all returned home safely at 11:00 in the evening.

The participants said that it was a wonderful day for all of them. The place was clean and green, the food was delicious, visiting families was great, the roses garden was romantic and soothing, and the bus journey was tiring, but they all enjoyed their accompaniment.
