Catholics from a remote parish in the northeast Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh walked 17 kilometers as part of Lenten penance on April 9, 2022.

The faithful from all the substations of Sacred Heart Church Neotan parish of Miao diocese made a “pilgrimage walk” to Christ the Light Shrine, Miao, said Father Felix Anthony, media secretary of the diocese.

“It was as part of Lenten penance and to pray for the end of the war in Ukraine and peace in the world. God blessed the pilgrims with good weather,” said Father Anthony, principal at Newman School at Neotan, a village in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh State.

Bishop George Pallipparambil of Miao joined the Catholics and ended the pilgrimage with Mass.
