Bangladesh: RNDM Sisters arrange special prayer service on the occasion of "Creation Celebration"
The Congregation of Our Lady of the Mission Sisters organized a special prayer service on "Creation Celebration Day" at St. Francis Xavier Kindergarten School in Luxmibazar on September 3.
The congregation, also known as the RNDM Sisters, is a Roman Catholic religious congregation of women originally from France.
The celebration is their response to Pope Francis' call to celebrate Creation Day from September 1 to October 4, 2023, with the theme "Let justice and peace flow".
The prayer service started with a devotional dance with elements of nature: - Earth, water, air, fire, and trees.
The Sisters prayed for each element, saying that it should be used properly and lead to a pollution-free world.
The dancers also acted out the first book, Genesis, or the story of creation, sending a message that this earth is the gift of God the Father's love.
The performance was followed by a prayer of thanksgiving and praise for God's creation.
The RNDM Sisters also planted 5 lakh trees on behalf of their communities around the world.
One of the participating sisters said, "During this celebration of creation, let's all avoid water pollution, air pollution, and soil pollution, prevent waste, and be aware of using electricity and plastic."
"We plant trees wherever possible; we take care of nature and the environment in many ways, including keeping our homestead clean and tidy", she added. - Nikhil Gomes
