40 children receive sacrament of Confirmation in Bangladesh
A group of children in the Archdiocese of Dhaka received their First Holy Communion and the Sacrament of Confirmation at the Good Shepherd Church in the village of Bhadun on September 3.
Archbishop Bejoy Nicephorus D’Cruze of Dhaka led the Confirmation rite for 40 children and the First Communion of 21 others.
In his homily, the archbishop said that Jesus shared his life “so that we may have eternal life.”
“The food we eat every day is spoiled after a while. But the food that Jesus will give us today will never be wasted. Because this food is come from heaven,” he told the first communicants.
“Those who accept Jesus today will be transformed into Jesus. You will act like Jesus, you will live like Jesus. Because Jesus will dwell in your hearts,” added Bishop D’Cruze.
“Today is a happy day for you. You will rejoice, but at the same time you will pray for yourselves, for your life,” he said.
The prelate also told those who received the sacrament of Confirmation to “receive the Holy Spirit in your hearts.”
“You will be marked with a special symbol …. The Holy Spirit will mark his name in your hearts,” he said. "From now on, you will be soldiers of Christ."
He urged those who received the sacrament to “think, meditate, whether you are willing to give your life to testify to the good of the Church, to defend the faith.” - Nikhil Gomez / RVA News
