Sri Lanka: Colombo Archdiocese’s media office holds program to mark Jubilee Year

The Jubilee Year 2025 program was organized by the Colombo Archdiocesan Office of Communication at Archbishop's House Auditorium, Borella, Sri Lanka on March 15, 2025.

The Colombo Archdiocesan Office of Communication organized a program to mark the Jubilee Year 2025 on March 15 at the Archbishop's House Auditorium, Borella, Sri Lanka.

"Let's seek our responsibilities in journalism and art, spreading the good words of earthly love" was the theme.

The event was organized by the Public Communication and Cultural Center under the leadership of Cardinal Albert Malcolm Ranjith Cardinal Patabendige Don, Archbishop of Colombo.

In his message, the cardinal urged participants to promote the idea of hope in media content.

Lal Hemantha Mawalage, a senior journalist on the Siyatha TV channel, and Mr. Amal, a senior journalist representing Sri Lanka and the Maldives in French News Service, attended the conference.

Mr. Jayasinghe, film and TV producer, director, screenwriter, book writer, university external speaker Dr. Bertram Nihal, and Mr. Milan de Silva, founder of Verboom Channel, were the resource individuals for the conference.

They discussed challenges in the current media sector in the country.

A large group of priests, nuns, laypeople, artists, media persons, and social media activists attended it, said Jude Crisantha, an organizer.

 

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
