On June 3, two siblings—a nun and a priest—died in a vehicular accident in the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand.

Sister Nirmala Kujur, a member of the Sisters of St. Ann of Providence (SAP), and her brother, Father Theodore Kujur, a priest in Jharkhand, were traveling in a car with their niece and nephew.

The accident tragically occurred during Sister Nirmala's home holiday in Jharkhand. Sister Nirmala was 42 years old, and Father Theodore was 54. Their 12-year-old nephew also died on the spot.

The collision happened near Khora Jamtoli village, in the Gumla diocese of Jharkhand, when their car collided head-on with a bus.

Speaking about the tragedy, Sister Jessy Kurian, a member of SAP, said, “We lost a young, vibrant, and committed nun.”
