Radio Veritas Asia Mandarin Service spreads joy to Aeta children in Pampanga outreach program
More than 200 Aeta children from Sitio Camachile, Nabuclod, experienced a day of joy and connection on December 27, 2024, through an outreach program organized by Radio Veritas Asia (RVA) Mandarin Service.
The initiative, spearheaded by Father John Mi and Father Francis Han, with the support of Ms. Michelle San Gabriel, aimed to foster a sense of community and bring smiles to the children in Pampanga, Philippines.
The event kicked off with a prayer, followed by lively games that filled the air with laughter. The children also expressed their appreciation through a heartfelt dance performance.
To conclude the program, the participants enjoyed a simple yet delightful meal from Jollibee, making the day even more memorable.
Before the program ended, Father Francis and Ms. Michelle expressed gratitude to the Aeta community for their warm participation.
They emphasized the importance of outreach programs in strengthening connections with underserved communities.
Beyond a single event, this initiative was a meaningful opportunity to listen, share, and be present with the Aeta children, reinforcing the values of kindness, solidarity, and community.
Indigenous to the Philippines, the Aeta people reside in remote, dispersed highland areas. The Aetas are believed to be the first people to settle in the Philippines before the Austronesian migrations. They lead a nomadic lifestyle.
In Zambales, Tarlac, Pampanga, Angeles, Olongapo, Panay, Bataan, and Nueva Ecija, Aetas can be found. However, some relocated to Pampanga and Tarlac resettlement regions due to the Mount Pinatubo eruption.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
