The Office of the Archbishop of Lipa in Batangas City holds a nutrition and food preparation conference on Monday, March 11, from 8.30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at. St. Francis de Sales Theological Seminary in Barangay (village) Marawoy.

The 2nd archdiocesan conference on nutrition and food preparation is themed “Let the Food Be thy Medicine: Paving the Way to A Healthier 2024 and Beyond!".

In a circular dated March 6, Archbishop Gilbert Garcera, D.D., addressed the clergy, religious and lay faithful of the Archdiocese of Lipa.

“In line with our desire to make sure that the physical well-being of our priests and religious are looked into so that they could serve effectively the flock entrusted to their care,” he said.

He added, “The Pastoral Health Care for the Clergy and Religious is currently updating the personal medical profile of priests, religious and deacons and continuously monitoring their health conditions.”

Sr Analiza Balita MCSH, MD, reported that the topmost medical conditions among priests are directly related to causes like cardiovascular causes (89%) and pulmonary causes (64%), and to problems that are kidney-related (30%), gastrointestinal (28%) and dermatological, musculoskeletal, neurologic and mental disorders (below 10%).

Garcera requested all parish priests, seminary rectors, directors of different Church institutions, such as St. Joseph Seniorate, and superiors of religious organizations to send their cooks and kitchen personnel to the conference.

He said they have invited Dexter Macalintal, RND, MD, DipIBLM, a licensed medical doctor and nutritionist, as a resource speaker.

“Let us pray to our Lord Jesus to keep our mind, body and spirit in the pink through the intercession of Our Lady of Caysasay, Our Queen and Mother, and St.  Joseph, the patron Saint of Our Archdiocese,” said Garcera.  (MTV)
