Indian bishops release book on “Telling the Story of Jesus in Our Context”

The Conference of Catholic Bishops of India releases a new book Telling the Story of Jesus in Our Context The Synodal Way.

The Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) released a new book titled “Telling the Story of Jesus in Our Context: The Synodal Way.”

The launch took place during the 36th Plenary Assembly of the CCBI at XIM University, Bhubaneswar, in the eastern Indian state of Odisha.

Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão, president of the CCBI, released the book by presenting the first copies to Archbishop George Antonysamy of Madras-Mylapore and Archbishop Anil Couto of Delhi.

The book brings together insights from distinguished global scholars and theologians who shared their perspectives during the 34th Plenary Assembly in 2023, held in Bangalore, Karnataka.

Cardinal Louis Antonio Tagle, Pro-Prefect for the Dicastery for Evangelization, has contributed four chapters on synodality, offering a deep exploration of the subject.

Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus Allwyn D’Silva of Bombay examines the connection between synodality and the relationship with Mother Earth. Archbishop Emeritus Felix Anthony Machado of Vasai reflects on the Church’s journey alongside all genuinely religious people.

Archbishop Couto delves into the intrinsic link between ecumenism and synodality, emphasizing the importance of journeying together in the spirit of unity.

Msgr. Josef Sayer, former Director of Misereor, discusses Praedicate Evangelium, the Constitution for the reform of the Curia and its implications for the life and leadership of the Church.

This book serves as a crucial resource for those seeking a deeper understanding of Synodality. It provides valuable insights and practical guidance for Church leaders, striving to cultivate a synodal spirit within religious congregations, parishes, dioceses, and other ecclesiastical institutions.
