India: Feast of the Holy Family - Strengthening relationships and living with faith
On December 29, the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth Congregation, known as the Sancoale Sisters, celebrated the feast of their patron, the Holy Family, at their headquarters in Sancoale, Goa.
The event, marked by a Eucharistic celebration, invited all to reflect on the virtues of the Holy Family and their relevance in fostering love, faith, and understanding in families and communities.
Fr. Kenneth Teles, Parish Priest of Sancoale's Our Lady of Good Health Church, led the Eucharistic celebration. His homily emphasized the values of silence, faith, and obedience, reflecting on Jesus' time in the Temple and his return to Nazareth with Mary and Joseph.
Teles urged the sisters and all present to be consistent witnesses of Christian faith, aligning their actions with their proclamations.
The feast serves as a reminder to nurture relationships with compassion and understanding. He pointed out the importance of respecting and allowing others to grow into the people God has created them to be.
This applies not only to families but also to communities and leadership roles. The sisters renewed their vows during the Eucharist, reaffirming their commitment to their mission.
The feast also invited reflection on the challenges of family life. Like Mary and Joseph, who faced the anxiety of losing Jesus and finding him in the Temple, every family experiences moments of conflict and misunderstanding.
The feast encourages us to follow the example of the Holy Family, whose relationships were rooted in love, trust in God, and humility.
The Sisters of the Holy Family give thanks for God's love and protection over their congregation. They pray for continued guidance and strength as they continue their missionary journey, serving as "pilgrims of hope" in the spirit of St. Francis Xavier and St. Joseph Vaz.
