Empowering young faith: Two-day holy childhood training held in Myanmar

A vibrant two-day training for members of the Holy Childhood Association took place at Pathein Gon Parish, Kanasoe Kone District, Myanmar, on November 16–17, 2024.

The event brought together over 400 children for a program focused on deepening their faith and nurturing their roles in pastoral ministry.

The training was spearheaded by Pontifical Mission Society (PMS) National Director Father Bernardino Ne Ne and teacher Isabella Pyone Pyone Aung, who shared valuable insights into the mission and practices of children’s pastoral ministry.

On November 17, a special Children's Mass was celebrated, presided over by Father Ne Ne, along with PMS Diocesan Director Father Cyril Win Maung and Father Vincent.

The Mass highlighted the active participation of children in the Church’s mission. Monsignor Pius Win Than and Father Gilbert Mahn Tha Taw, a school head, also addressed the children, encouraging them to live out their faith with joy and compassion.

The event received strong support from teachers, parents, youth, and catechists, who played essential roles in organizing and facilitating the training.

The Pontifical Mission Societies, established in 1922, are the Catholic Church's official organizations for supporting missionary activities worldwide.

Among its four branches, the Pontifical Society of the Holy Childhood stands out for its dedication to engaging children in mission work.

Active in over 130 countries, the Society’s motto, “Children evangelize children, pray for children, and help children all over the world,” reflects its mission to inspire young believers to share their faith and compassion.

Through programs like this, the PMS continues to empower the next generation of Catholics to be active evangelizers and compassionate leaders, spreading the Gospel and embodying Christ’s love in their communities.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
