Dominican center organizes International Women’s Day in Pakistan

On March 8, the Peace Center in Lahore, Pakistan, organized International Women's Day 2024 at Pak Arab Housing Society, Ferozepur Road, Lahore.

More than 130 women and girls participated in the event from all walks of life.

They celebrated International Women’s Day with the theme “Inspire Inclusion,” emphasizing the importance of diversity and empowerment of women in all aspects of society.

“To inspire inclusion means to celebrate diversity and empowerment on International Women's Day 2024 and beyond,” said Asher Nazir, a staff member at the Peace Center Lahore, a Dominican-run NGO that promotes peace, harmony, and inter-religious dialogue in Pakistan.

International Women's Day (IWD) is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

This day each year powerfully reminds us of the progress made toward gender equality and underscores the remaining work.

Education and awareness play vital roles in fostering inclusion and empowering women. Through initiatives such as mentorship programs, educational workshops, and advocacy campaigns, individuals and organizations can create opportunities for women to thrive, said Dominican Father James Channan, director of the Peace Center in Lahore.

He said that providing support and resources can empower women to overcome obstacles and achieve their full potential.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
